Karen

Dr. Karen Martindale-Sliz BSc, DC
Dr. Martindale-Sliz graduated from the University of Waterloo in 1989 with an Honors Bachelor Degree in Science. Having experienced the benefits of chiropractic as a patient she was compelled to continue her studies and become a Chiropractor, so she in turn could help others achieve an enhanced quality of life. Dr. Martindale-Sliz graduated from the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College in 1993 receiving the York Peel Chiropractic Award for academic excellence and good rapport with patients. Dr. Martindale-Sliz has been committed to providing personal, high quality and professional care to her patients in the Ajax community since graduating. She is continually upgrading her skills through post graduate education courses bringing new ideas and techniques to her patients. In 2001, she earned a diploma from the Acupuncture Council of Ontario and has since supplemented her chiropractic care with needle acupuncture, therapeutic laser, as well as modalities and Kinesio Taping. Dr. Martindale-Sliz is happily married and has two active daughters. She volunteers her time and services with W.I.N.G.S., a not for profit association, to support the health of teen mothers and their children in her community.

Dr. David Surette BPHE, BEd, DC
Dr. David Surette graduated from McMaster University (93’) and Lakehead University (95’), earning bachelor degrees in both Physical and Health Education, and Education. He leads an active, healthy lifestyle often combining his love for extreme sports with a passion for travel. Early on, this adventurist lifestyle led to numerous injuries and introduced him to the benefits of chiropractic care which in turn inspired him to become a chiropractor. Dr. Dave graduated from the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College in 2000 and has been in private practice for the last 16 years both abroad and in the Durham Region. He utilizes manual adjusting techniques as well as Activator. His adjustments are not just limited to the spine. He adjusts extremities, achieving positive results when treating various problems such as, plantar fasciitis, frozen shoulder, knee and ankle pain and carpal tunnel syndrome. Dr. Dave also supplements his patient care through the use of modalities, acupuncture, orthotics, therapeutic laser and Kinesio-taping. Dr. Dave is passionate about Chiropractic care. He has witnessed its success in keeping people of all ages both stronger and more flexible, helping them age gracefully while living life to their full potential. Dr. Dave is happily married with two active, young children. He is an avid windsurfer and kite surfer who finds enjoyment in weight lifting, swimming, running, travelling and camping.

Dr. Chantal Joseph BSc(KIN), DC
Dr. Chantal Joseph graduated with an Honours Bachelor of Science degree with a specialization in Kinesiology from Queen’s University in 2017. She has since gone on to obtain her Doctor of Chiropractic degree from the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College and is in the process of completing the Contemporary Medical Acupuncture program through McMaster University. Dr Joseph has always been an active individual. During her education she found herself drawn to helping athletes while working with several sports teams, such as soccer, basketball, swimming, track and football. Over the years she has developed special interests in sport injury, peek athletic performance, as well as women’s health issues. Dr Joseph is an evidence-based chiropractor with a strong commitment to providing high quality patient care to help restore and improve function. She uses a variety of therapeutic techniques – including functional and postpartum rehabilitation, instrumented assisted soft tissue therapy, manual adjusting, myofascial release, taping and patient education. Chantal believes these tools, in conjunction with her patients playing an active role in their own recovery, can effectively enable them to reach their personal healthcare goals. When Dr Joseph is not treating her patients, you can find her coaching a F45 workout class, finding any excuse to escape the city, and spending quality time with her family and friends.

Manisha Wijayanayagam BSc, PT
I completed my Master of Physical Therapy at the University of Toronto. Prior to this, I graduated from the University of Guelph with my Bachelor of Science with Honours in Bio-medical Science. My goal is to use the knowledge I’ve gained throughout my education to help my clients optimize their health and well-being. I’m committed to taking an evidence based approach to ensure my clients receive the best possible care. I incorporate a balance of hands-on treatment, such as manual therapy, with exercise-based therapy and cupping, to ensure that my clients have the ability to maintain their health and function throughout their course of recovery. I’ve also developed a passion for helping people maintain or regain their pelvic health after experiencing pregnancy, prolapse and/or incontinence. I aim to practice what I encourage my clients to do, so I strive to stay active throughout daily life by running, lifting weights, playing tennis and hiking..

Lisa Page RMT
Lisa’s personal experience with sports injury therapy steered her toward a fulfilling career in massage therapy. Lisa achieved her diploma from Centennial College and she has been bringing relief and relaxation to her clients at Westney Heights Chiropractic Center since 2002. Lisa focuses on her client’s goals through open communication and draws from a variety of treatment methods to accommodate individual needs, conditions and comfort levels. Her approach to treatment is both holistic and proactive, enabling clients with nutritional, postural, stretching and strengthening guidance.  Lisa advocates a balanced lifestyle; she embraces the outdoors and enjoys a variety of sports and leisure activities in our community.

 

Courtney

Courtney Summers RMT
Courtney has been practising in the North York and Durham Regions since her graduation from the Canadian College of Massage and Hydrotherapy in 2001. She enjoys treating a wide variety of conditions ranging from general muscle strain to more complex motor vehicle and sport-related injuries.  Courtney is continually educating herself on a diverse range of massage therapy techniques. She has completed the Myofascial Release Masters Course and holds a certificate in IASTM (Instrument Soft Tissue Mobillzation). The techniques learned benefit individuals with chronic muscle pain and postural dysfunction, guiding them back to pain-free living.  Courtney enjoys running and plays hockey with Bull Dog Hockey Development.  These activities keep her in good physical condition helping her to keep up with her young active family.

 

Arun

Arun Pal RMT
Arun graduated with an Honours Music Degree in composition, percussion and piano in 1991 from Wilfrid Laurier University. He has performed countless shows and taught thousands of students. To this day Arun's love for music has not wavered but through working many years in the music profession he learned about how essential it can be to maintain a healthy physical balance with the rigours of many aspects of work and life. After facing numerous repetitive stress disorders Arun discovered how massage therapy can be an amazing tool to prevent and treat a variety of injuries. Just as important he realized that massage therapy can improve one’s quality of life and build body awareness. As a performer and teacher Arun became passionate about ergonomics and overall health. Arun’s positive experiences with massage therapy inspired him to pursue a career as a Massage Therapist and in 2017 he completed the Massage Therapy program at Trillium College with top marks. Currently Arun works with Swedish, myofascial, static and joint mobilization techniques and eagerly looks to further his education by building his knowledge on lymphatic work in the near future. Arun is also very passionate about being a father, continues to write, perform and teach music and loves to play racquet sports in his free time.

Vanessa King RMT
Vanessa has been practising massage therapy in the Durham Region and GTA since her graduation from Sutherland-Chan School & Teaching Clinic in 1997. Vanessa has always had a passion for helping others which has led her to her career as an RMT. Vanessa also graduated from Humber College in 2002 as an Occupational Therapist Assistant and Physiotherapist Assistant. Vanessa enjoys treating a wide variety of conditions ranging from general muscle strain and sport-related injuries to more complex motor vehicle and neurological conditions. She has 20 years experience working with stroke and neurological rehabilitation. Vanessa has lived in Ajax for over 40 years and loves spending time down by the lake. She enjoys cooking and baking, fitness and walks with her family.
